MazM: Now play a game of a classic literary work!

In today’s time young people and children are more and more addicted to mobile phones and apps. Instead of reading from good ‘ol’paperback books’,  young people prefer any interactive activity on their mobile phones. This thought inspired the CEO of the company Growing Seeds Corp, Hyo Taek Kim to develop interactive literature content in form of games for mobile phone users. The MazM series of games brings to life a world of stories through beautiful illustrations and a moving score, and provides its players with an intricate gaming experience.

Play the characters, live the stories

MazM is basically a 2D story adventure game series which is available on mobile phones. The games are based on famous literary works. The game players can be a character of the story and experience it in the story world as if for real. The start-up had launched its first game ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ based on the American classic story written by L.Frank Baum. The player could step in the character Dorothy’s shoes to embark on an adventurous journey to Kansas. The player meets different characters and has interesting interactions through out the game.

In 2018, the company launched its second project with ‘Jekyll and Hyde’. It is interpretation of a great piece of classic literature – the 1886’s mystery novel ‘Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’ written by Robert Louis Stevenson. The player has to find clues, enjoy the stories, and solve problems through out the game. The game has haunting artwork capturing London’s gloomy atmosphere of 19th century. The player can experience the cat and mouse chasing game through the eyes of Mr. Utterson, a lawyer hunting for Mr Hyde. The ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ game has been quite a successful venture with one million downloads and rated at 4.7/5 on Google Play and Apple Store. It has 50,000 followers in Korea itself and 15,000 globally.

‘MazM is meant to represent the goal to form alternative

interpretations & closures for stories, and to bear meaningful fruit.’

The company wants to bring out more immersive and engaging games while providing an outlet for stories, which are not much discussed or read by today’s younger generation. The games become interesting enough as the players can step in the character’s shoes and enjoying different experiences with each new chapter.

MazM’s future plans

MazM hopes to serve as a fresh stimulus to people who are reluctant to read novels and stories. The start-up wants to launch many famous stories and classics in the future with more interactive technology. MazM aims to make a game for ‘every story in the world’ including historical events, famous figures, mythology and religion. This unique interactive story-games can sure become a great way to indulge the young minds in the world of knowledge and literature.
