Calmantech, a full-directional autonomous mobile robot platform, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Gosung Engineering to collaborate in the autonomous mobile robot (AMR) business for smart factories and conventional manufacturing sites.
Both companies recognize the accelerating trend of factory automation and robot adoption in manufacturing industries. Specifically, they observe a rapid transition from Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) to AMRs that can generate free paths. With this in mind, they decided to establish a cooperative relationship covering various aspects of the AMR business.
Calmantech specializes in producing fully directional autonomous robots with a wheel-equipped structure and developing ROS2-based full-directional autonomous control software. The AMRs developed by Calmantech are recognized for their strengths in efficient autonomous movement and precise docking operations in narrow and complex environments, earning the product the title of Outstanding Product of the Year at the 2022 RoboWorld Awards.
Gosung Engineering is a specialized robot system integration (SI) company with expertise in various applications and customized technology tailored to customer needs, aiming to enhance productivity and ensure safety in factory and production environments through robot automation.
Both companies plan to offer customized AMR solutions through this MOU, enabling existing manufacturing facilities facing environmental constraints to minimize infrastructure costs and efficiently operate even with frequent layout changes.
Choi Jae-hwan, CEO of Calmantech, expressed expectations that the combination of Calmantech’s distinctive full-directional AMR mechanism and autonomous driving technology, along with Gosung Engineering’s AI vision technology and rich customization experience, will dramatically improve the cycle time of manufacturing processes.
Choi Chang-shin, CEO of Gosung Engineering, believes that the collaboration with Calmantech can be a turning point in meeting diverse customer needs and expects that the synergy between Calmantech’s robots and Gosung’s SI technology will create significant opportunities for growth in the market.`
