The Biomedical healthcare market is now an integral part of the medical industry. However, it has its limitations in performance, cost, and dimension. Korean startup Nemesis Co, Ltd. is into developing a SoC (system-on-chip) for biomedical devices with unique “Universal Sensor Interface” technology to overcome limitations with biomedical devices.
Developing for better biosignal processing
The biomedical devices are bulky and expensive for which Nemesis has developed the semiconductor SoC. Since the biosignal is naturally created and difficult to handle, Nemesis’ unique signal processing circuit called “Universal Sensor Interface” claims to ensure better analysis.
Nemesis technical domain includes signal processing part such as signal conditioning, signal processing, MCU, memory and peri circuits. Nemesis wants to target devices like capsule endoscopy, smart contact lens, and smart bio patch and other medical devices for its SoC.
The startup is at the initial stages of development and had secured its IP design in the first quarter of 2019. Nemesis is aiming to launch a sample SoC in coming months and set up mass production for SoC by the end of the year. The SoC for capsule endoscopy is design ready and the
startup plans to provide its SoC by end of the year. For the SoC for smart lens, a prototype has been developed, while for the SoC for smart patch, the company is still in discussion with potential customers.
Strong founding team & higher vision
The Management team of Nemesis are all experts in engineering and science with experience in startups. In 2003, Nemesis’ core team had founded Roundpulse Inc., a company acquired by IXYS, a US-based NASDAQ listed company in 2015.
Nemesis had raised $ 0.45 million in July 2018 from CPS, Capstone Partners, a Korean VC. The startup is looking to pitch for more funds in 2019 for further development and marketing of their product. Nemesis wants to be the world’s best biosignal processing SoC provider. Nemesis’ team will be attending the RISE Conference to be held from July 8 to 11 in Hong Kong, that is supported by the Korea Institute of Startups & Entrepreneurship Development (KISED). The RISE Summit attracts many prominent leaders from global companies, major media outlets and influential investors.
