KOCCA (Korean Government Agency – Korea Creative Content Agency) and beSUCCESS Media successfully organized virtual Launchpad Virtual Demo Day Indonesia 2020 on November 12. Five emerging Korean startups presented their product and services to a group of Venture Capitalists, Angel Investors, companies looking for partnership deals via the zoom system. KOCCA had successfully organized Launchpad Virtual Demo Day USA 2020, on October 28.
The Live Demo Day aims to give Korean startups opportunities to raise funds from investors. The five startups that presented their ideas to potential investors were:
1. AKA AI: AKA develops A.I. engines and robots to help improve communication among objects.
2. Global E-Detail (GED): GED helps prevent accidents by monitoring smartphones.
3. Strong Friends Company: Strong Friends is making the home fitness routines exciting and entertaining.
4. Gwabba/MASTER. G.G.: A platform for viewers and streamers to interact.
5. DamoGO: DamoGO’s app helps reduce food waste by selling ‘unsold’ food.
Technology, ‘untact’ services impress investors
The panel of esteemed judges from various companies who attended the Launchpad Virtual Demo Day Indonesia was Richie Wirjan, VP Investment from Kejora-SBI Orbit, Junia Layardi, VP Investment from Indogen Capital, Anthony Liem CEO of MCM group & Investment partner at GDP Ventures, Chrisvania Nyssa, Investment manager at Merah Putih Inc., Kenneth Li, Managing Partner of MDI VC Singapore, Joshua Agusta, Director at Mandiri Capital Indonesia, Alvin Suryohadiprojo, Associate at Investidea Ventures, Indonesia and Tjun Wi Suganda, CEO at PT Prima Wira Utama. Indonesia. The event was moderated by James Jung, CEO & founder of beSUCCESS.
The panel of investors asked the startups various questions regarding their business model, competition, users, quality control, collaborations and plans for global expansion. While the judges were impressed with all the presentations and its uniqueness, Master.gg was one of the startups that impressed most with its service for game streamers. The panel saw potential growth for the company, especially in the ‘untact’ times of COVID-19. However, there were also concerns regarding the future competitive market for the startup. AKAI and GED also got special attention for their products in robotics and preventive analysis technology respectively.

KOCCA, the host of this online live-streaming event, is the South Korean government’s leading agency in charge of supporting and advancing the cause of Korean creative content within South Korea and abroad. KOCCA organizes its Launchpad event annually to promote Korean startups to various VCs, investors worldwide, but this year due to COVID-19 outbreak the program was shifted to virtual version.
In 2019, the KOCCA Launchpad Demo Day was held in Los Angeles, USA, where nine startups had participated in the program. The KOCCA Launchpad LA 2019 had pitching sessions, coaching sessions, VC meetings, workshops, etc., for startups spread over eight days from November 11 to 19. Last year, the participating startups Stipop and Veam have been selected for the Snap Yellow Accelerator program 2020. The two startups are among the ten selected companies from across the world to be part of the third edition of the Yellow Accelerator Program run by Snap Inc.
