The third edition of the Launchpad Virtual Demo Day for Korean startups was held successfully for potential investors, venture capitalists from France and Europe. KOCCA (Korean Government Agency – Korea Creative Content Agency) and beSUCCESS Media hosted the virtual Launchpad Virtual Demo Day France 2020 on December 2.
Five emerging Korean startups presented their product and services to a group of Venture Capitalists, Angel Investors, companies looking for partnership deals via the zoom system. KOCCA had successfully organized Launchpad Virtual Demo Day USA 2020 on October 28 and Launchpad Virtual Demo Day Indonesia 2020 on November 12.
The Live Demo Day aims to give Korean startups opportunities to raise funds from investors. The five startups that presented their ideas to potential investors were:
- SG Entertainment – An entertainment startup that is a human-focused production agency for idols, performers, and creators.
- AIVAR – A Fashion Tech Company that gives the body data with two photos taken by the customer’s mobile phone.
- TENQUBE – The startup has developed theGomst app, which s a global fashion search engine for mobile users.
- Letsee – The startup provides an Augmented Reality solution based on WebAR technology.
- N2Falls – It has made the world’s first “Portable Nitro Coffee” N2FALLS.
European mentors, investors impressed with Korean startups
Creative Valley, a Europe-based firm that plays an important role in mentoring and supporting entrepreneurs and startups by providing various tools for success in France and worldwide, partnered for the Launchpad Demo Day France 2020. JeeYoun Ho, International Development Manager for Creative Valley, and James Jung, CEO of beSUCCESS media, moderated the Demo Day.
The panel of esteemed judges and mentors from the Creative Valley team who attended the Launchpad Virtual Demo Day France were Yann Gozlan, the co-founder and CEO, Kian Ban, International Development Director, Jean-Michel Zylberman, senior advisor, Carole Barkatz, COO, and others. Other panel judges included Pierre Lavaux, Venture Partner, SGH Capital SA, Hyonn Mot & Stephanne Mot of Marie Claire.
The startups presented their services that included innovative e-commerce models, entertainment platform, AR and VR led services, and consumer products. The panel of judges discussed various issues with the startups like production strategy, sourcing ideas, work equations with different external agencies, expansion to Europe and worldwide, etc. The startups also got some business tips and ideas to help them grow in the global market.
Yann Gozlan and Jean-Michel Zylberman were impressed with the Korean startups and startup founders. “The startups have real potential to grow global, and they should be confident about it,” said Yann Gozlan as he summarised his experience at the Demo Day. Hyonn Mot praised TenQube and Letsee for their services. “In the content industry, we should never underestimate the fun part in the name of efficiency. I am glad to see the companies that presented today combined both pleasure and efficiency,” Hyonn said. Pierre Lavaux said, “The startups need not be in Silicon Valley to succeed globally. The startups that we saw today have the potential to take strides in the Europe market.”

KOCCA, the host of this online live-streaming event, is the South Korean government’s leading agency in charge of supporting and advancing the cause of Korean creative content within South Korea and abroad. KOCCA organizes its Launchpad event annually to promote Korean startups to various VCs, investors worldwide, but this year due to COVID-19 outbreak the program was shifted to virtual version.
In 2019, the KOCCA Launchpad Demo Day was held in Los Angeles, USA, where nine startups had participated in the program. The KOCCA Launchpad LA 2019 had pitching sessions, coaching sessions, VC meetings, workshops, etc., for startups spread over eight days from November 11 to 19. Last year, the participating startups Stipop and Veam have been selected for the Snap Yellow Accelerator program 2020. The two startups are among the ten selected companies from across the world to be part of the third edition of the Yellow Accelerator Program run by Snap Inc.
