There is no doubt that K-Pop has won the world with its tune and has a huge global fan following. The international fandom has created many platforms where K-Pop knowhow is shared. StarPlay is a social platform created for K-Pop fans by Korean startup Gleam Media Inc
Over 5 million users and expanding
StarPlay allows users to follow their favourite K-Pop artists, watch exclusive content of their favourite stars, be part of a community connecting other fans, earn rewards by ranking shows and more. The rewards that the fans earn on StarPlay are in the form of crypto tokens. StarPlay service, which was started in 2019, currently has 5 million users of global K-pop fans.

The service started with a voting system and advertising service for K-pop artists, is now expanding into its content and vertical shopping mall system. The fandom platform held the official voting for SBS MTV The Show, the first music broadcast in Korea, and secured about 1.9 million users in 2020 from 145 countries worldwide. The StarPlay applications are available for Android and iOS users, and it monetizes through in-app purchases and ads.
Gleam Media, the company behind the StarPlay app, has produced a variety of media content. It plans to expand its global content business and fandom service in the Southeast Asian market with the K-Pop media platform, StarPlay. The startup wants to build strategic partnerships with K-Pop promoting companies, music shows, etc. Gleam Media’s aim is also to promote tourism through K-Pop popularity.
