In the face of global challenges like an aging agricultural workforce and rising labor costs, Korean startup CRABLE is pioneering cost-effective solutions to revolutionize agriculture through autonomous driving technology. The company’s mission is to tackle fundamental issues in primary industries using cutting-edge innovations, making strides towards complete automation in agriculture.
The agriculture sector is grappling with critical issues such as an aging workforce, high wages, job shortages, and the soaring prices of advanced agricultural machinery. To address these challenges, CRABLE has developed practical and sustainable farming solutions that are both innovative and affordable.
Versatile and Scalable Autonomous Solution
CRABLE’s flagship invention, the “OTOA” Self-driving System based on RTK GNSS/INS technology, represents a breakthrough in autonomous driving for agricultural machinery. The system leverages a sensor fusion of Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) technologies to achieve precise autonomous driving with an accuracy level of up to 2 cm. Thanks to its Dead Reckoning (DR) function, OTOA is capable of autonomous navigation even in indoor environments where GNSS signals may be unavailable.
What sets OTOA apart is its versatility and affordability. Unlike conventional autonomous driving systems that come at high costs, OTOA can be universally applied to existing agricultural machinery through simple device attachments or electronic handle replacements. This versatility extends to both outdoor and indoor environments, making it a scalable and accessible solution for a wide range of agricultural applications.
Addressing Global Challenges in Agriculture
CRABLE’s innovation is rooted in its commitment to solving the chronic challenges faced by primary industries. By providing economical autonomous driving solutions and leveraging telematics technology, CRABLE aims to drive the automation of agriculture, paving the way for enhanced productivity and sustainability.
Founded in 2019, CRABLE has rapidly emerged as a telematics solutions and autonomous driving platforms leader. The company’s dedication to innovation has earned it recognition as a certified venture company by the Korea Venture Association in 2020. CRABLE has also secured five domestic patents, showcasing its technological prowess and commitment to advancing agricultural automation.
Currently, CRABLE is carrying out a number of government-supported projects and underscoring its strong foothold in the industry, with support totaling more than $1 million. Collaborations with Korea’s leading agricultural machinery companies further highlight CRABLE’s strategic approach toward launching groundbreaking products that apply its cutting-edge technologies. Looking ahead, CRABLE is planning to launch a cooperative agricultural robot in 2024 using the same technology.
