In Europe’s deep tech arena, where AI and climate innovation define the next industrial frontier, a Korean startup quietly reshaped the conversation. South Korea’s Greener Lab unveiled its AI system, treating urban forests like living digital networks, showing investors and policymakers a model for how deep tech can scale environmental resilience. Its recognition at SLUSH 2025 marks a turning point for Korea’s global climate technology ambitions.

Greener Lab at SLUSH 2025: A Defining Moment for Korea’s Deep Tech and Climate Innovation

Korean startup Greener Lab has earned a place among the Top 3 finalists in the SLUSH 2025 Deep Tech Battle, marking a breakthrough for Korea’s climate technology sector on the global stage. Not only that, but the company was also awarded the swisstech Choice Award on Day 2 of the global deep tech battle at SLUSH 2025.

At Europe’s largest deep tech gathering in Helsinki, the showcased its flagship product, TreeAiD, an AI-powered urban forestry platform that transforms how cities monitor and manage green infrastructure. The recognition positions Korean environmental AI as a credible force in shaping the future of climate resilience, ESG governance, and smart city ecosystems worldwide.

Greener Lab Advances AI in Environmental Management

SLUSH 2025 gathered over 13,000 attendees, including 6,000 startups and 3,500 investors representing a combined USD 4 trillion in assets under management. The event’s deep tech focus highlighted how artificial intelligence and data-driven infrastructure are redefining global industries — from biotech to sustainability.

Greener Lab is a Korean environmental and climate tech startup developing AI-powered solutions for urban forestry and ecosystem management. The company stood out among hundreds of competitors by presenting a scalable AI infrastructure for urban forestry, applying the precision of digital healthcare to ecosystem management.

Its platform, TreeAiD, enables predictive care and digital health monitoring for trees and green infrastructure across municipal, national, and corporate systems. The platform basically builds “electronic medical records for trees,” integrating AI diagnostics and IoT sensors to monitor tree health, detect stress conditions, and predict risks across entire cities.

TreeAiD’s system analyzes over 500,000 clinical datasets to identify diseases, water stress, and nutrient deficiencies, while connected Sentinel sensors track environmental metrics such as electrical conductivity, pH, and salinity. It supports municipal, national, and corporate sustainability programs, enabling data-based policy development, carbon credit verification, and ESG performance tracking.

Switzerland Innovation Partnership Accelerates European Expansion

Following its presentation in Helsinki, Greener Lab secured a strategic partnership with Switzerland Innovation, the Swiss national innovation agency. The collaboration paves the way for deployment across Switzerland and wider European Union markets, marking the startup’s formal entry into Europe’s climate technology ecosystem.

Switzerland’s position as a leader in climate resilience, green policy integration, and environmental technology adds institutional weight to the partnership. Greener Lab plans to establish a European base in Switzerland, conducting on-site pilots and R&D collaborations with partners in Finland and the Netherlands by 2026.

Greener Lab Co-CEO Jun Choi stated,

“Switzerland and Finland represent the pinnacle of environmental and technological advancement. Their selection of Greener Lab confirms that Korean AI forestry management technology can become the global standard for urban green infrastructure.”

A Model for Predictive and Preventive Climate Management

Industry observers noted that Greener Lab’s reception at SLUSH reflects a global shift toward predictive environmental management, moving away from manual, reactive maintenance of urban ecosystems.

TreeAiD’s integrated architecture, combining AI, IoT, ecological data, and ESG frameworks, demonstrates how deep tech solutions can underpin both smart city systems and national environmental strategies.

Analysts point out that Greener Lab’s approach aligns with Korea’s broader deep tech momentum, aligning with the government’s ambition to position Korea among the world’s top three AI powerhouses. By merging AI infrastructure with ecological policy, the startup exemplifies how Korean innovation is transitioning from sectoral specialization to global systems leadership.

Deep Tech as Korea’s Next Global Export

Greener Lab’s success signals a strategic inflection point for Korea’s deep tech ecosystem.

Until recently, Korean startups were primarily recognized in mobility, fintech, or content sectors. The rise of climate AI and urban sustainability platforms now illustrates Korea’s capacity to export foundational technologies, not just consumer applications.

Participation at SLUSH also connects Korean startups to Europe’s expanding Green Deal funding framework, which allocates billions toward carbon-neutral and biodiversity-focused technologies.

Hence, the success of Green Lab at SLUSH 2025 Deep Tech Battle signals a new message for Korea’s venture community: the next wave of competitiveness will come from AI-integrated sustainability infrastructure — the space where environmental science, data engineering, and global policy intersect.

Korea’s Expanding Role in Global Climate Tech

Finally, this SLUSH 2025 Deep Tech Battle achievement of Green Lab reflects the maturing ambition of Korea’s startup ecosystem to play a leadership role in solving planetary-scale challenges.

With active deployments in South Korea, Kenya, South Africa, and Malaysia, the company’s expansion into Europe reinforces the narrative that Korean deep tech can anchor global sustainability transitions.

As international investors seek credible climate innovation pipelines, Greener Lab’s case demonstrates how Korean startups can bridge technology, policy, and environmental action. Its journey from Seoul to SLUSH represents the evolution of Korea’s innovation identity — from fast followers to deep tech architects shaping the future of sustainable cities.
