South Korean semiconductor intellectual property (IP) development startup Qualitas Semiconductor has submitted a request for a preliminary examination to the Korea Exchange for listing on the KOSDAQ. The company is targeting a listing in the second half of this year, with Korea Investment & Securities as its organizer.
Qualitas Semiconductor specializes in ultra-high-speed interface IP licensing and design services based on interconnect semiconductor design technology and semiconductor process design and verification technology. Its core technology is SERDES, which enables the conversion of low-speed parallel data into high-speed serial data, which is then transmitted at high speed through a single channel.
The company plans to secure a top-tier market position globally by developing high-value-added IP, including multi-level signaling SDE, 100G class SUDES, PCIe 6.0 PHY, chiplet interface, among others. Qualitas Semiconductor was founded in 2017 by IP design experts from Samsung Electronics and has been building cooperative relationships with Samsung Electronics foundries and SoC developers since its inception. Samsung Electronics has been a key IP partner in the company’s foundry collaboration ecosystem ‘SAFE’ since 2019, providing cutting-edge design technology and IP mass production.
According to Doo-ho Kim, CEO of Qualitas Semiconductor, “The system semiconductor market is expected to continue to grow with the development of industries such as artificial intelligence, self-driving, and data centers, and the company’s listing on KOSDAQ will help strengthen its position.”
Qualitas Semiconductor recently acquired AA and A grades from the Korea Invention Promotion Association and NICE evaluation information for special technology listing in March. It was also selected as an innovation icon, a startup scale-up program of the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund on April 28. The company’s sales in 2022 are expected to reach KRW 10.8 billion, with 138 current employees.
