In a bid to foster global innovation and collaboration, ORLEN Group, one of Central and Eastern Europe’s most prominent multi-energy conglomerates and Rebels Valley, a leading Polish business consultancy, is reaching out to Korean startups for its leading accelerator program.
The ORLEN Skylight Accelerator is an initiative that opens doors for young technological companies worldwide to accelerate their growth and commercialize their innovative products and services within one of the most prominent multi-energy conglomerates in CEE.
With its diverse portfolio encompassing the production and sale of fuels and energy, logistics, recycling, plastics production, and fertilizers, ORLEN Group boasts annual revenues of approximately 70 billion euros. Its products are distributed across over 100 markets worldwide, reflecting its global influence and reach.
ORLEN Skylight Accelerator
ORLEN Skylight is an implementation-acceleration program, offering startups a streamlined pathway to commercial success within ORLEN Group. By participating in this program, tech companies gain access to quarterly challenges spanning various business domains, including petrochemicals, energy, green technologies, digitization, HR, marketing, and retail. The program kick-starts with pilot projects valued at around 60,000 EUR, which hold the potential to evolve into full-scale implementations, providing startups with unprecedented opportunities for growth and collaboration.
Investment Opportunities and Evaluation Process
ORLEN Skylight welcomes global startups including from South Korea that have been operational for no more than 10 years and possess technology ready for testing and implementation. Successful validation of business hypotheses, both within ORLEN’s areas of interest and in other economic sectors, is highly advantageous.
The program operates on a challenge-based model, where applying startups submit their value propositions for specific challenges. ORLEN Skylight evaluates the potential benefit that ORLEN Group and the startup can achieve together, rather than focusing solely on investor pitch decks. The program is non-equity based, ensuring that the intellectual property associated with pilot projects remains with the startup.
From the close of applications to the Steering Committee meeting, the evaluation process typically spans around 2 months. During this time, startups have the opportunity to engage with business owners of the challenges, gathering feedback and refining their proposals before final decisions on collaboration are made. Direct communication with ORLEN managers is a key value of the program.
