Obigo, a company that provides mobility service platforms, has been chosen as a leading company for the national project “Service Sharing Technology and Service Development to Improve the Competitiveness of Ultra-small Electric Vehicles” by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
The project is supervised by the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT) under the ministry. Obigo was selected as the main R&D organizer for its expertise in web-based platforms, data collection and analysis-sharing technology for ultra-small electric vehicles, as well as its high potential for future business opportunities after the project. The project will last 33 months and cost 4.2 billion won ($3.1 million) in total.
The project’s co-researchers include the Korea Electronics Association, Lotte Global Logistics, and JastecM, a company that specializes in automotive IOT devices and data hub services.
Obigo is a smart car software company that supplies its own in-vehicle software solutions and mobility platform to domestic and foreign automakers. Through this project, the company will collaborate with KETI to develop a service model tailored for ultra-small electric vehicles.
“We are planning to lead the growing electric vehicle market by successfully completing this project with our unique platform technology, and we expect royalty revenue to increase gradually as domestic and foreign automakers continue to release vehicles that have our platform,” said an official from Obigo. He added, “We plan to focus on maximizing our revenue and improving our services while winning a 5.4 billion won ($4.1 million) project to develop our dashboard screen software for LG U+’s next generation electronic device service.”
