Lion Rocket AI webtoon creation

Korean startup Lion Rocket, renowned for its AI-driven webtoon creation, has secured a significant investment of 6 billion won ($4.6 million), bringing its cumulative funding to an impressive 14 billion won. The funding round, led by Stone Bridge Ventures and joined by GU Investment, marks a pivotal moment for Lion Rocket’s expansion plans.

At the core of Lion Rocket’s success is its proprietary image generation AI technology, Brain Boosting Learning, which gained recognition through its involvement in the ‘AI Lee Hyun-se’ project. The startup, founded by three generative AI engineers honoured in Forbes magazine’s ‘Asia’s 30 Leaders Under 30 in 2021,’ is leading a paradigm shift in the content market.

With collaborations underway with over 15 content companies in Korea and Japan, Lion Rocket aims to reinforce its position as the top image creation AI company globally. The latest investment will fuel technological advancements and pave the way for Lion Rocket’s entry into the Japanese market, leveraging its innovative AI technology.

Lion Rocket’s flagship image generation AI service, Genvas, has revolutionized the webtoon creation process. Boasting a unique character fixation technology and motion control capabilities, Genvas enables webtoon production at a speed ten times faster and 50% cheaper than traditional methods.

The startup’s brain boosting learning technology addresses challenges faced by other image generation AI technologies in creating continuous and consistent characters suitable for webtoons. By utilizing only 10 learning images, Lion Rocket achieves character consistency, enhancing webtoon productivity by over 90%.

Zenverse, a representative offering from Lion Rocket, is set to release ‘Dawn of Charon,’ an AI-generated webtoon episode early next year. The service aims to empower creators by presenting a new paradigm in the webtoon market, making webtoon production more accessible.

Stonebridge Ventures expressed confidence in Lion Rocket’s potential to innovate the global webtoon production process. The investment is anticipated to be a catalyst for Lion Rocket’s continued technological innovation and growth. Seunghwan Jeong, CEO of Lion Rocket, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting K-Webtoon’s global influence through Zenverse, providing cutting-edge webtoon generation AI technology.
