Korea’s AI-driven art industry is stepping onto the global stage. Artue, a next-generation art curation platform blending artificial intelligence and blockchain, has secured strategic investment from Crit Ventures USA. The move signals growing confidence in Korea’s creative technology startups as they redefine how art is created, valued, and traded in the digital era.
Crit Ventures USA Invests in Artue to Accelerate AI and Blockchain Integration
Crit Ventures USA, the U.S. subsidiary of venture capital firm Crit Ventures, announced a strategic investment in Abitus Associate, operator of the AI art curation platform Artue, on November 10, 2025. With this investment, Crit Ventures USA becomes the second-largest shareholder of Abitus Associate based on its total managed funds.
Launched in 2023, Artue was built to serve as the “operating system for the art market in the AI era.” The platform uses conversational, multimodal, and emotion-based search technology to understand each user’s aesthetic preferences and recommend matching artworks. It currently lists about 540 artists and over 4,000 artworks, with the number of participating artists and works growing more than 15% and 20% year-on-year, respectively.
Korean Startup Artue: ArtTech Meets AI and Blockchain
Artue has completed what is described as the world’s first patent filing for an AI-based art recommendation and discovery system—a breakthrough recognized at the OpenAI Korea launch ceremony as an innovation case. The system represents one of the earliest examples of technological standardization in visualizing art experiences.
Beyond AI, Artue has combined blockchain technology for copyright protection, forgery verification, and digital ownership management. The company is now preparing to tokenize physical art assets as security tokens (STO) and launch global art funds.
To support these ambitions, Artue signed a technology partnership with CONX, a blockchain platform joined by Com2uS Holdings. The collaboration will enable the creation of an integrated ArtTech financial infrastructure that unites AI, blockchain, and digital assets.
Executive Insight: Building a New Digital Art Ecosystem
A spokesperson from Crit Ventures USA said the firm views Artue as a key example of how technology can reshape cultural industries:
“Artue is leading the digital transformation of the art market by rapidly applying cutting-edge technology. As AI evolves toward specialized vertical domains such as content, design, and entertainment, Artue stands out as a model for this next wave of innovation.”
Song Bo-young, CEO of Abitus Associate, emphasized the deeper cultural impact of AI in art:
“AI is redefining how people experience and appreciate art. Together with Crit Ventures USA, we aim to establish a global standard user experience for technology-based art markets and build a new digital art ecosystem where AI and creativity coexist.”
Korea’s Expanding Global Footprint in ArtTech
The Artue – Crit Ventures partnership highlights a critical inflection point for Korea’s ArtTech and creative AI ecosystem. As the country emerges as a testbed for integrating AI, blockchain, and digital finance, startups like Artue are shaping models that merge cultural value with financial infrastructure.
The strategic investment signals Korea’s rising competitiveness in the deep-tech creative economy—an area attracting interest from global venture funds that traditionally focused on AI or fintech.
Artue’s fusion of technology and cultural IP also reflects Korea’s broader strategic shift: exporting innovation not only in hardware and software but in digital creativity itself.
The Bigger Picture for Korea’s ArtTech Frontier: Where AI, Art, and Capital Converge
Crit Ventures USA’s backing of Artue underscores a new stage in the evolution of AI-driven cultural industries. By connecting art, finance, and technology, the partnership exemplifies how Korea’s next-generation startups are moving beyond local markets to define new global standards.
With its expansion from Los Angeles to Palo Alto, Crit Ventures USA continues to support promising Korean startups seeking entry into North America. Artue’s journey represents more than an investment—it reflects how Korea’s innovation ecosystem is bridging the gap between creativity and capital in the era of intelligent digital economies.
