South Korea’s most prominent cultural export is K-Pop, which has numerous fans worldwide. Korean startup HANTEO GLOBAL has been combining K-pop and data technology to serve millions of K-pop fans.
The company’s O2O (online to offline) service, called ‘Whosfan Village’ is a space where fans can immerse themselves in K-culture, including K-pop, fashion, food, beauty, hobbies, etc. Whosfan app is an integrated online global fandom platform with over 10 million users.
HANTEO GLOBAL boasts an unrivaled amount of K-pop data among companies that collect and hold big music data worldwide. The startup uses Artificial Intelligence for big data in music. The company’s primary services include the world’s one-and-only real-time music chart “Hanteo Chart” and a mobile application “Whosfan.” that serves as a global K-pop fandom platform. The startup is also operating Hanteo News and Whosfan Cafe.
Hanteo’s Whosfan enables global voting events based on blockchain and large-volume traffic distributed processing technology. It has become an essential app among K-pop fans, and the company wants to connect offline community events with online buzz. Whosfan village will be a space where fans can pre-purchase goodies online and collect offline, experience the concurrent transmission of exhibitions and events, and get real-time academy reservations.
HANTEO GLOBAL introduced Hanteo Chart and Whosfan at the CES 2022 (Consumer Electronics Show), the world’s largest IT and home appliance fair, held in Las Vegas. Hanteo has been selected as a “Baby Unicorn Enterprise” by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Institute of Startup and Entrepreneurship Development (KISED), showcasing its promising potential.
HANTEO GLOBAL technological prowess has been recognized in Korea by receiving the Ministry of Science and ICT Award for the 2021 DATA-Global overseas expansion. They also received the Minister of Science and ICT Award for the 2021 SW High Growth Club 200, which honors high-growth companies to recognize their future growth potential.
An official from HANTEO GLOBAL said, “We had an obligation to show the status and excellent business model of K-pop at international fairs. This year we will make additional advances by introducing new services, including a vertical commerce business specializing in K-pop.”
