As part of the DIPS 1000+ Global Relay IR @Dubai Program under the Super Gap Startup 1000+ Project, a dynamic delegation of top Korean startups is set to visit the UAE from October 14 to 17, 2024. Spearheaded by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) and the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development (KISED), this initiative focuses on expanding into the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The objective of the Super Gap Project is to accelerate the growth of innovative South Korean startups with cutting-edge technology in the top ten emerging industries, such as AI/Big Data and eco-friendly technology, transforming them into global unicorns through the collaborative efforts of the public and private sectors.

The DIPS 1000+ Project, a deeptech incubator program for startups, aims to nurture around 1,000 deeptech startups by investing approximately 2 trillion KRW from 2023 to 2027. Targeting companies within 10 years of establishment, it focuses on areas like system semiconductors, biohealth, future mobility, green technology, AI, robotics, and quantum technology. Eligible companies receive up to 200 million KRW annually in commercialization funds, along with support for R&D, technology advancement, and investment attraction. Institutions like Seoul National University, Korea University, and Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development (KISED) oversee project implementation, technology commercialization, and open innovation.

Four Days of Engaging Lectures, Networking, and Investment Opportunities Await!

The Korean startups’ visit to the UAE will feature engaging lectures on eco-friendly and energy technologies, insights into Dubai’s startup ecosystem, and practical legal considerations for entering the MENA market. Key activities include Investor Relations (IR) sessions where startups will pitch to a panel of investors, VC mentoring, and meetings with global corporations. Additionally, participants will network at the Dubai AI Campus, gaining insights into the UAE’s AI industry development policies and future trends.

The highlight of the visit will be the Demo Day on October 15 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, Dubai, where 15 leading Korean startups will present their cutting-edge innovations across sectors such as eco-friendly technology, healthcare, AI, and Big Data. This event will feature 5-minute pitches from each startup followed by 3-minute Q&A sessions. With over 20 top investors from Dubai and the broader Middle East in attendance, this is a prime opportunity for startups and investors to engage in meaningful collaboration.

In addition to the pitches, startups from the UAE and the broader MENA region are invited to attend as observers, fostering cross-border networking and potential partnerships. This event offers a unique platform to witness revolutionary solutions from South Korea and explore how these innovations can impact the regional market.

Why Attend the Demo Day?
