COVID-19 pandemic might have stalled the world’s major events, but it has not stopped the Korean startup ecosystem to demonstrate its technical prowess by converting offline events to the virtual platform. As the year 2020 ends in unprecedented times and there is a beginning of the new Post-COVID-19 Era, SGSC takes the lead on a 100% UNTACT Demo Day to be virtually available on December 29th.
The 2020 SGSC Demo Day for startups is organised by the Seoul Global Startup Center (SGSC), established by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in co-operation with N15 Co., Ltd. On December 23rd, SGSC along with N15 (Co-Founder Jea Huh, Sunjong Ryu), and WeWorkLabs Korea, hosted the 2020 SGSC Demo Day at Daewon Media Hall located in Yongsan I-Park Mall.
This event gave the opportunity to participate only for the 5th Batch Residents, Graduates, and Alumni who have been screened fairly by the third-party judges. The top three winning startup teams were selected through an evaluation on 23rd, by a panel of judges composed of Korean and international VCs and Representatives of Investment Firms.
Startups who pitched during the event included from the industry:
▲Platform Service (Plus Alpha Trading, SeoulZ, Ekport Korea),
▲Solution(Gentle Energy Corporation),
▲Hardware&IoT(OneCharge Solutions, Oysterable),
▲Education(TOOTI, Apollo EduTech),
▲F&B(DamoGO),
▲Lifestyle&Beauty(Gideb).
The Seoul Global Startup Center has been hosting events annually to support the startups to scale up in IR Pitching Skills and Networking. Furthermore, from this year onwards the Seoul Global Startup Center plans to hold events such as 2020 SGSC Demo Day to support startup teams by providing them an opportunity to attract investments and expand their connections with Korean and international VCs.
Due to the unfortunate effects of COVID19, this year’s event has been hosted online and the details of the event will be on-air via online platform nextunicorn (https://nextunicorn.kr). This online platform connects startups and investors) on December 29th.
