NHN Cloud (led by Co-CEOs Do-Min Baek and Dong-Hoon Kim) has announced its plan to provide DaaS (Desktop as a Service) for the next-generation system of Shinhan Securities, Ltd. (under the leadership of CEO Sang-tae Kim).
In this undertaking, NHN Cloud, a subsidiary specialized in VDI/DaaS, will engineer a DaaS solution founded on NHN’s financial cloud service. In addition, ‘Shinhan DS’, a proficient Managed Service Provider (MSP), will facilitate business operations.
NHN Cloud will also establish a separate ‘NHN Cloud Financial Landing Zone’ environment, fulfilling the compliance and framework requisites of the financial industry. Furthermore, NHN will construct a dedicated DaaS environment for its clientele.
This venture serves as an example of creating a large-scale DaaS-based work setting in the financial sector, where stability and security are paramount. To achieve this, NHN Cloud and its subsidiaries are executing a customized DaaS operation through their proprietary services and capabilities. The fact that NHN, the leading Cloud Service Provider (CSP) in Korea, is spearheading the nascent DaaS market is significant.
NHN Cloud evaluated the work environment of Shinhan Securities and intends to supply a DaaS system suitable for diverse job roles such as development personnel or general office staff. During the DaaS construction project, NHN Cloud will implement key strategies such as vulnerability analysis, security enhancement based on risk assessment, and assurance of business continuity. Additionally, the company aims to extend the financial landing zone and DaaS system to various other financial corporations.
NHN Cloud co-CEO Kim Dong-hoon stated, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Shinhan Securities, a pioneer in digital transformation in the financial sector, on their DaaS construction project. As a leader in the DaaS field, we look forward to demonstrating our technology in the rapidly digitizing new IT landscape within the financial industry.”
In 2022, Shinhan Securities initiated ‘Project Meta’ to establish a cloud-based next-generation ICT system. As part of ‘Project Meta’, the company is constructing a DaaS-based smart workplace to enable employees to maintain work continuity without physical space constraints, even in the face of natural disasters or emergencies.
