The metaverse craze is taking over the world, and companies developing metaverse apps are seeing a rise in venture investor interest. Korean startup Unique Good Company, a developer of an Augmented Reality (AR) metaverse content platform Realworld, has attracted investment in Series A2 from Hyundai Motor Group’s Zer01ne Fund. Hyundai Motor participated as the lead investor in this round, along with Aegis Hyundai Motor Securities Proptech Fund and Hite Jinro. The amount is confidential.
Unique Good Company to expand globally with new funding
Unique Good Company’s Realworld is metaverse app, an augmented reality game platform where users select and play content developed by creators. It is characterized by providing realistic games by combining immersive technologies such as QR, NFC, and the Internet of Things. The game projects have hidden things in a specific space or a chatbot system that finds a way through a location-based system (GPS) to talk with NPC characters. The story in the game changed as per the user’s choice, using interactive storytelling and augmented reality (AR).
Realworld provides over 3,000 pieces of content created by creators, including mobile content that can be enjoyed indoors and online and city tour content that can be enjoyed while walking around the city. It is growing with its authoring solutions and management tools that create and distribute real-world content as quickly as handling PowerPoint without additional programming knowledge for the user. The AR metaverse market is expected to reach three times the size of the VR market.
Realworld has surpassed one million cumulative playtimes and one million hours of cumulative playtime within half a year since the release of the authoring tool in the second half of last year. Above all, 85% of the users of the MZ generation account for it.
With this investment as a starting point, Unique Good Company aims to grow into a global metaverse app by introducing P2E (Play to Earn) that can earn profits through games beyond a simple game content platform. Unique Good Company plans to complete the construction of ‘Realworld Seongsu,’ play space in the city center where metaverse technology is concentrated, in the second half of the year to maximize the synergy by utilizing the on/offline strengths the real world for re-opening after COVID-19 pandemic.
