AFun Interactive, a Korean startup that has popularised virtual influencers Apoki and Lechat, has received a strategic investment from Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin.

AFun Interactive, which possesses real-time 3D production technology and know-how, is launching content intellectual property (IP) suitable for the metaverse era. Based on its 3D production technology, it is pioneering a new genre of virtual K-pop, led by APOKI and LECHAT, which currently have a global fandom of over 7 million people.

Kevin Lin co-founded Twitch, an internet broadcasting platform, and is a significant figure in the global IT industry. Twitch has grown to a 1 trillion won company and sold to Amazon. 

The VR influencer Apoki is popular in Japan 

 Apoki, a representative virtual artist of AFun Interactive, is currently active in various Japanese media, introducing Korean cultural trends.

Apoki released the second Japanese single in June, and was ranked 5th in the ‘2021 Global VR Influencers TOP 100’ selected by electronics maker HTC. This is the number one record in Asia and the world’s number one among virtual humans.

AFun Interactive official said, “Through this investment by Kevin Lin, a key figure in the global IT industry, we will be able to promote our Metaverse technology that has been showcased overseas more actively. We will expand the new Hallyu market in the low metaverse.”
