The Service Platform, a Korean startup specializing in fintech for online shopping, has secured seed investment from Korea Investment Accelerator through private funding. The company is currently preparing to launch a PoC service, with full commercial services expected to commence from the second half of 2023 when travel demand is anticipated to recover.
One of The Service Platform’s main offerings is ‘Funch Reward’, an online service that enables foreign tourists visiting Korea to receive tax refunds without the need for face-to-face interactions. Customers can use robot kiosks installed in domestic tourist centers to instantly receive items purchased online and obtain tax refunds. The innovative model has also earned The Service Platform recognition as an early tourism venture company with advanced technological capabilities, selected by the Korea Tourism Organization.
Kim Yong-woon, CEO of The Service Platform, said, “It’s time for the suppressed desire for shopping tourism to explode after the endemic time. We are starting with the service in the Korean market in 2023, and will quickly advance into global markets such as Japan and Europe.”
