Korean Accelerator FuturePlay invests in the Series A round of Singapore-based container transportation platform startup Haulio. FuturePlay was the only Korean investor in the investment round led by Heliconia Capital Management, a subsidiary of Temasek, a Singapore state-owned investment company.
Through this round, Haulio secured a total investment of $ 7 million(about 8.3 billion won).CVC ‘PSA unboXed’ of PSA International, one of the world’s largest port operators, and Comfort Delgro Ventures, CVC of Comfort Delgro, one of Singapore’s largest transportation companies, also participated in the investment round.
Streamlining logistics digitally
Haulio is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) startup that develops Southeast Asia’s largest container transportation platform. It aims to streamline the logistics system that connects shippers and freight forwarders in the first-mile section, where containers are distributed and moved after they arrive at the port.
Haulio is innovating the entire process of container transportation, which used to be complicated by various problems, through a digital platform. Haulio helps owners select proven freight forwarders and view and manage the complex process of cargo transportation at a glance. Freight forwarders can also register their transport history within the platform to receive notifications of suitable jobs from time to time. Owners can also keep in touch with the driver and solve any problems during cargo transportation.
Alvin YHA, CEO of Haulio, said, “Haulio’s platform will create a new standard for freight transportation. We consider it an important base in the future and are happy to partner with Future Play as the first step towards this.” Seung-Hoon Jin, lead of the Southeast Asian business development team of Future Play, who led this investment, said, “Haulio is a team that provides digital solutions at the starting point of the logistics movement that connects shipping companies and cargo transport companies, and is a team that is making a breakthrough in increasing the efficiency of container logistics. It has secured 90% of its customers and is expanding into Thailand and Indonesia markets.”
Meanwhile, FuturePlay has also invested in more Southeast Asian companies, including Singapore startup EdgeCortix, Trove Technologies, Vietnam startup EcoTruck, and Indonesian startup Quiks. In addition, last year, FuturePlay signed a business agreement with Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia.
