Clicking memorable photographs while travelling is very easy now with smartphones. At the same time, digital memories are great, what if there are methods to get instant prints while visiting a fantastic tourist destination? Korean startup SOC Co. Ltd wants to provide a solution with an unmanned photo printing kiosk, “Selpic,” allowing users to print and share photos from their smartphones easily.
SOC Co. Ltd. wants to target tourist spots and destinations that can use the service to enhance tourism and works as a marketing tool. Selpic connects online and offline through non-face-to-face and prints high-quality photos for users that can be exposed to active advertisements involving users with advertisers. Selpic’s smartphone print solution kiosks can print photos in just 20 seconds, making it a quick and easy service.
Selpic utilizes cloud service for storage and does not require any extra human resources. The company plans to expand the service to the global K-market by providing image output services for webtoons, character licenses, K-content, and cloud photos. Tourist destinations and organizations can connect the place’s culture and promote it with photo prints.
Selpic has already opened a new photo printing market with 300 kiosks that have replaced development plants in Korea and generated 3 million prints. It is also possible to succeed as a development project by installing shopping malls other than tourist attractions in Southeast Asia, where the use rate of photo printing has soared.
