Leading consumer tech investment firm Goodwater Capital announced it has raised $1 billion in new funds to invest in early and growth-stage consumer tech startups. Eric Kim, co-founder and managing partner at Goodwater Capital, said the firm also gets access to an additional $500 million to support late-stage hypergrowth companies.

Investing in Southeast Asia
The Goodwater Capital community spans more than 25 countries, with over 140 companies powering $150 billlion in annualized financial and eCommerce services. The Silicon Valley-based VC firm’s portfolio companies cover education for over 250 million people across social and educational platforms, cares for the health of nearly 50 million lives, and helps transport and house over 75 million families. Its portfolio companies include TIER Mobility, Tide, ZeroDown, Toss and Kyash.
While based in the US, the VC firm has also been looking at investment potentials in Southeast Asia. In Korea, its investments include unicorn companies like Kakao, Coupang, Toss and Dangeun market. Recently, the VC firm participated in Series B investment for edtech startup Class101 in September 2021. Earlier this year, Goodwater Capital invested $100 million Series D funding in MoMo, Vietnam’s largest e-wallet app. It also invested an undisclosed amount in Vietnam’s B2B e-commerce startup Kilo in its seed funding round.
Goodwater Capitals has introduced the Goodwater Index that helps entrepreneurs know the overall health of the venture capital funding environment for consumer tech. Goodwater Capital calculates the index by combining key industry data sources including dollars invested, venture capital funds raised, deal volume, M&A, and IPOs.
