Sleep Apnea disorders are considered life threatening. People with the ‘snoring’ disease sometimes have to use oral apparatus, machines like positive pressor (CPAP) or undergo surgery to control their complex sleep disorder.
Snoring and sleep apnea can weaken the lungs, damage the heart and cause complications such as fatigue, headache, high blood pressure, cardiac infarction, cerebral infarction and heart attack in the worst case.
Korean company Pasamedi has developed a smart mouth guard to help people breathe easily and sleep peacefully. Pasamedi has upgraded the performance of Pasa year by year through 4,000 clinical tests and obtained a number of patents.
Each person has a different shape of gums, teeth and mouth. Pasamedi’s oral apparatus is designed to suit different shapes. Pasa is designed to make a space between the lower jaw and the tongue even after wearing it so the patient can unconsciously take it out and in when feeling uncomfortable.
Pasamedi offers customizable oral guards by collecting 3D oral data structures. The wearable device can also be linked with a smartphone app to monitor changes like snoring noise, oxygen levels, and sleep data. The company is offering a free one-month trial for its app and, later on, subscription fees.
Pasa Medi co-founder Choi Hyun-jin & Park JunHyuk said in a media report, “Pasa has improved performance of the lungs and eased the rhinitis. I’m confident that with our technologies and their effect, customers who are unsatisfied will get a 100% refund. So far, only 5% has been refunded, which means that most customers feel satisfied with the performance of Pasa.” Pasamedi is looking to expand to the markets of the US and China in the coming years.
