Korean gaming publisher NCSOFT (referred to as NC) introduced VARCO LLM, its new proprietary AI language model on August 16. The brand name, VARCO, stands for “Via AI, Realize your Creativity and Originality.”
VARCO’s LLM offers four distinct models: Foundation, Prompt, Dialogue, and Generative. Each model’s performance varies based on the size of its parameters.
NC has launched the Korean-only VARCO LLM, a small-medium-sized model designed for both individuals and businesses. This model benefits from high-quality data selected by NC during the early development stages.
NC’s service models are available through Amazon SageMaker JumpStart, a machine learning hub with fundamental algorithms and pre-built machine learning solutions. In partnership with Amazon, NC is offering a one-month free trial of VARCO LLM to users worldwide.
This month, NC plans to release a Korean-English bilingual model and will introduce additional language models in different sizes and categories in the future.
NC also unveiled VARCO Studio, featuring three AI platforms based on VARCO LLM. VARCO Art is a text-to-image generation tool, Varco Text provides text generation and management, and VARCO Human integrates tools for creating, editing, and managing digital humans. These platforms aim to enhance game development efficiency in areas such as game design and art.
Lee Je-hee, Chief Research Officer at NCSOFT, stated, “VARCO exhibits the highest performance among comparable Korean models available today.” He added that “NCSOFT will leverage VARCO to deliver new, original value and experiences across various domains, including game content development.”
NC plans to harness VARCO LLM for a wide range of business projects and research, encompassing digital humans, generative AI platforms, and conventional language models. Additionally, the company will introduce domain-specific models that integrate advanced AI technologies with expertise from partners in diverse fields, such as education, finance, and biotechnology.
