Animal Industry Data Korea (AIDKOREA), a livestock tech startup based in Korea, has won the prestigious bronze prize in the Food and Agriculture AI Advancement category at the 2023 Edison Awards for its Farmsplan digital healthcare solution. Farmsplan is the world’s first livestock digital healthcare solution integrating AI, bio, and veterinary technologies.
The Edison Awards, named after the US inventor Thomas Edison, recognizes exceptional technological innovation. More than 3,000 executives and academic experts from across the United States evaluate entries over seven months, using four criteria: Concept, Value, Delivery, and Impact. Farmsplan was recognized for its technological innovation and distinction as the world’s first example of a livestock digital healthcare solution that integrates AI, bio, and veterinary technologies. AIDKOREA is the only livestock-related company among the winners in the Food and Agriculture Advancement category.
The solution is a unique integration of AI, bio, and veterinary technologies that monitor the health of livestock 24/7 using CCTV and provides optimized planning from a veterinarian, thereby preventing diseases. Farmsplan could prevent the spread of disease and minimizes the use of antibiotics and drugs through continuous monitoring of animal health, contributing to the distribution supply of healthy livestock-derived products.
AIDKOREA has attracted 32 billion won in investment and was recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture for its achievement in commercializing Korea’s first livestock digital healthcare technology. AIDKOREA plans to use the Edison Awards as a gateway to expand its business in developed countries such as the United States and Europe.
The company has already been recognized for its innovative technology in several international competitions, including the Virtual Pitch Competition hosted by SelectUSA and K-Global@Silicon Valley 2021. Last year, AIDKOREA became the first Asian company selected for the UK government’s Global Entrepreneur Program (GEP) in the livestock sector, confirming its potential to enter the European market.
“We are honored to have been selected as the first AI-based livestock management innovation at the prestigious Edison Awards,” said Daniel Kyeong, CEO of AIDKOREA. “With our Farmsplan solution, we will strive to revolutionize a primary industry that has been stagnant for thousands of years and dramatically reduce the digital divide in the global animal industry.”
