Korean startup DANO, a business that caters to women’s fitness and diet, has attracted about 4 billion won or $3.54 million of investment. Murex Partners, SV INVESTMENT, and existing investors, such as GS Home Shopping Inc. and AJU CAPITAL CO., LTD., participated in the investment. With the new funding, Dano’s accumulated investment is about 6.5 billion won, about $5.7 million.
A business dedicated to making women feel healthier
DANO was established in July 2013, as a brand specializing in women’s fitness and diet. Its first initiative was a Facebook page ‘Diet Note’ followed by a mobile app, an online store of healthy food – Danoshop, ‘MYDANO’ mobile app of a personal coaching program, and ‘DANOFIT’ women’s fitness center. Dano has fitness influencer Lee Ji-soo on board for providing useful diet information through its YouTube channel.
The personal coaching app MYDANO has accumulated payments from over 100,000 customers, while Danoshop has been the only food brand to be chosen in the 2018 Olive Young Health & Beauty Award MD pick 20.
Expected to expand reach with new investment
“Dano is the only startup in Korea that combines mobile fitness coaching and diet food commerce,” said Kang Dong-min, vice president of Murex Partners. “After this investment, Dano is expected to aggressively expand its external combustion and improve its more integrated experience.”
“It is Dano’s vision for all women in the world to find the best potential through Dano. We will continue to grow without losing the company`s original intentions,” said Chung Beom-yoon, co-chairman of Dano.
At present, Dano is Korea’s top diet brand for women and is an ideal platform for those who are passionate about creating a healthy diet culture. The startup is growing steadily by attracting investment from GS Home Shopping Inc., AJU CAPITAL CO., LTD., 500startups, Smilegate Investment, and others.
