Korean webtoons are increasingly in demand globally, attracting millions of fans and webtoon companies getting investors. Toonit, a webtoon content creation company, started in 2021, has got seed investment from Naver-affiliated Spring Camp and Kolon-affiliated venture capital Innobase. Toonit aims to launch a beta service in the North American market this winter, and the seed investment will help it achieve its goal.
Helping everyone become webtoon creators
The Korean webtoon startup provides a webtoon automation solution and webtoon publishing platform that allows users to quickly and easily create their original content without drawing any pictures. Compared to platforms like YouTube or Wattpad, where users can upload videos or novel content, Toonit’s technology supports picture-based content creation. It’s easy to use drag and drop technology that can help webtoon writers make their characters and scenes. Toonit helps creators make their virtual assets and earn profits through a unique marketplace system.
“Toonit is preparing to launch its service in North America, the largest single market, with executives with global experience and understanding at the forefront. We decided to invest in the company because it has enough growth potential,” said an investor at Spring Camp.”
Kim Jeong-dae, CEO of Toonit, said, “Through this investment attraction, we plan to provide spaces and assets with various themes so that more and more colourful stories can be seen through Toonit.” Toonit has offices in Seoul and Toronto.
