The Novel Coronavirus pandemic has increased the demand for ‘untact’ consumption activities worldwide. Businesses are adopting cloud computing to help to reach their online customers. Cloud demands have increased by 775%, causing the second growth period for the industry. However, cloud computing still faces various security issues, containment, cost management, and lack of expert resources.
Korean startup Astron Security has created a cloud workload security solution, a new artificial intelligence (AI) method-based cloud configuration error and hacking detection automation solution. Astron Security was started in April 2020 by CEO Geun Seuk Cho to be the leading cloud service solution provider in the world. Geun believes Astron Security is the next generation cloud workload security solution that solves a cloud provider’s solution
Cloud Workload Security (CWS) solution
Astron Security’s CWS is an AI-based’ automatic anomaly detection and identification technology developed through in-depth learning analysis. The solution implements workload-level security in a completely new way by combining cloud APIs and security agents to automatically map information on all workloads as soon as the cloud account is linked. CWS uses a security topology to implement network and security connectivity for the cloud provider, making cloud security operations more convenient.
According to CEO Geun Seuk Cho, “This product is a version that supports AWS as a product that improves the accuracy of security functions by simultaneously supporting cloud API and security agent method. Products that support multi-cloud such as Azure and GCP and hybrids such as legacy were released in September. Products that automatically detect anomalies with AI will be released at the end of the year. Also, the public cloud is expected to grow in earnest from this year, and we will play a role as an essential security solution that can guarantee safety.”
CWS also provides automated asset management and records real-time change, precise abnormality detection, host health monitoring, and firewall policy management optimization through the three-step defense. The solution detects cloud workload abnormalities through the six or more signs of integrity check and forgery monitoring, host status monitoring, application status monitoring, account, and log monitoring, and firewall Block log monitoring. It’s 3- step firewall policy management includes firewall policy creation, deletion, change monitoring, policy error checking and policy simulation, and host firewall support. In other words, the solution detects abnormal behavior in your cloud workload in real-time by combining the pros of CSPM (Cloud Security Configuration Management) and CWPP (Cloud Workload Security Platform).
Expansion plans
Astron Security has huge expansion possibilities given that the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the second cloud computing growth. The cloud sector is already a huge market valued at $ 200 trillion each year. The big market and growth has ensured that the next-generation of advanced technologies such as big data, AI, and edge computing are entirely dependent on the use of the cloud. However, security issues with cloud computing have continually hampered its production. Astron security is intent on solving these problems and paving the way for mass cloud implementation in businesses.
Even in Korea cloud adoption remains fairly low at 12.9% in 2018, the lowest compared to the OECD average of 30%. According to Geun “The number one problem for cloud implementation are security issues which can only be solved through Astron Security’s core function. Our 3-stage defense system minimizes security risks allowing business to safely use cloud technology”. Astron’s main strategy is to increase the use of its solutions in Korea. Although Korea is one of the strongest countries in IT, most of its cloud computing technology and solutions are dominated by foreign firms. Astron seeks to provide domestic and cheaper cloud products and solutions that accelerate the growth of next-generation firms in the country.
