SEUM Law, a leading legal firm based in South Korea, has introduced an innovative employee benefit program titled “Workation” to promote work-life balance and enhance productivity among its team members. The program, a blend of “work” and “vacation,” offers employees the opportunity to work remotely while enjoying the serene ambiance of Jeju Island.
Since its launch in 2023, SEUM Law’s Workation program has garnered attention for its forward-thinking approach to employee well-being. Designed to alleviate the stress of daily routines, maximize work productivity, and foster personal growth, the program represents a paradigm shift in traditional work arrangements.
Program Logistics and Participant Experience
Recognizing Jeju Island’s status as a popular tourist destination in Korea, SEUM strategically selected it as the inaugural venue for the Workation program. The island’s breathtaking landscapes and tranquil atmosphere provide an idyllic backdrop for employees to work and unwind simultaneously.
Each month, SEUM Law accommodates up to three participants in the Workation program. The firm covers expenses for fully equipped studio accommodations with ocean views and shared office space near the city center. Sungbum Park, an associate at SEUM, shared his experience as the first participant in January 2023, highlighting the program’s unique benefits.
Reflecting on his experience, Park emphasized the program’s capacity to facilitate deep reflection and personal growth while maintaining a productive work environment.
Sungbum Park, associate at SEUM, was the first participant in SEUM’s “Workation” program in January 2023, said, “I think the Workation program is exceptional. When you work late hours in the office, stress compounds, and there is little time to look around you and reflect on your everyday life. The best part about the program is that the location available for work is not much different from a fully-fledged office. When you need some air, you can go up to the roof and gaze at the sea. After work or on weekends, you can visit nearby forests, feeling as if you were truly on vacation. This lets you get a great and light-hearted start to the week on Mondays.”
SEUM’s Commitment to Employee Well-Being
The introduction of the Workation program underscores SEUM Law’s unwavering commitment to nurturing a supportive work environment and prioritizing employee satisfaction. By offering this novel initiative, the firm seeks to provide team members with opportunities for rejuvenation, self-discovery, and professional development.
As the first of its kind among law firms in Korea, SEUM Law’s Workation program sets a new standard for employee-centric initiatives in the legal industry. By fostering a holistic well-being and continuous learning culture, the firm aims to inspire its team members to achieve excellence in their roles and deliver unparalleled service to clients.
SEUM Law remains dedicated to exploring innovative ways to empower its workforce and enhance overall job satisfaction. With the Workation program poised to become a cornerstone of the firm’s employee engagement strategy, SEUM anticipates further growth and success in its mission to provide exceptional legal services while prioritizing the well-being of its team members.
