The international tourism industry was severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, with millions of dollars lost. With the revival of global tourism, there is a demand for efficient devices and products that can detect infectious diseases and high-risk viruses.
Korean startup AU Inc. has developed a bio-signal detection radar for preliminary detection and quarantine of high-risk infectious diseases. The technology combines a thermal imaging sensor and a respiratory pattern detector.
AU Inc.’s device module detects bio-signals such as breathing and heart rate using a 60GHz millimeter-wave radar with a thermal imaging camera sensor. The radar can early detection of high-risk infectious diseases, including COVID-19. While the current thermal devices can detect patients with symptoms, AU Inc.’s device can also scan asymptomatic patients.
AU Inc. has developed it as a solution to alleviate the anxiety of tourists after the global COVID-19 pandemic and as a pre-emptive response to another infectious disease. AU Inc plans to significantly expand the detection accuracy and area of the prototype radar module designed for vehicles or buses to improve the safety of the tourism business.
Founded in 2019, AU Inc. is a vehicle radar sensor company that has developed a high-frequency radar sensor to improve the low passenger recognition accuracy of ultrasonic or weight sensors. AU Inc. primarily designed radar sensors for the vehicle-related market and is expanding its target to the smart healthcare market. The company also plans to market its product to the smart home industry and tourism industry.
