Korean AI startup Deeping Source is making a significant entry into the North American market with the establishment of a local subsidiary in the United States. Deeping Source is renowned for its pioneering in-store retail analysis technology that prioritizes user privacy while delivering critical insights. The company’s remarkable technology focuses on anonymizing information to protect individuals’ privacy, including data related to customers’ race and gender. This approach has gained Deeping Source recognition in overseas markets and positions it as a leader in preserving user privacy.
Deeping Source specializes in AI-based camera video analytics technology, offering solutions for performance analysis and optimization of offline spaces. Last year, through the US Testbed Challenge program hosted by, Korea International Trade Association, Gangnam District Office, Venture Enterprise Association, and Startup Junkie, the company signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with TPS Engage, the world’s largest retail and outdoor advertising company. They conducted a proof-of-concept project, showcasing their video data anonymization technology.
In the latter half of 2022, Deeping Source completed the 12-week acceleration program at Fuel Accelerator, preparing for its U.S. expansion. After establishing its U.S. subsidiary last year, Deeping Source conducted solution testing with Loloft, a U.S. logistics company catering to small and medium-sized businesses. Subsequently, they have been expanding their application to all branches across the United States.
In the past two years, after technology validation, Deeping Source networked with mentors in various fields, conducted product-market-fit research, and gained confidence that their product was competitive in the US market, and successfully established a branch office in Delaware to enter the US market. Deeping Source’s technology is unique in that it provides anonymized data for other AI companies to develop models without compromising privacy.
Kim Tae-hoon, CEO of Deeping Source, expressed his gratitude, stating, “The Trade Association, Startup Junkie, and Fuel are support groups with distinct strengths and infrastructures from a startup perspective. Their collaborative efforts facilitated a step-by-step preparation for entering the North American market.” He further emphasized his aspirations, saying, “Starting with the establishment of valuable partnerships, we will transform the boundless potential into reality and lead future growth in the North American market.”
Meanwhile, Park Philjae, Director of the Korea International Trade Association, led the collaborative support and praised Deeping Source’s US market entry as “a remarkable example that effectively highlights the global competitiveness of Korean AI companies. “Since the POC (proof of concept), we have seen a number of success stories in the form of overseas subsidiaries establishment, contracts, overseas certifications, joint R&D with overseas vendors, and hiring of local sales representatives. As an organization that has pioneered this space over the past four years, we will continue to identify and pursue similar opportunities.” With success in America, Deeping Source is also aiming to enter the Japan market in near future.
