The inaugural KoreaTechDesk Virtual Demo Day on April 23, 2024, was a resounding success. It showcased the innovative spirit of Korean startups and their potential to make a global impact. Our mentor and expert for the day was Jan Raczyński, Managing Partner at Rebels Valley, a leading Polish business consultancy. With his wealth of experience in business development and nurturing startups, Jan brought a wealth of insights to the table, guiding Korean startups toward success in the global market.
At Rebels Valley, Jan and his team specialize in the full spectrum of startup support, from establishment and incubation to acceleration and scaling up. In a single year, they engage with an impressive 200 startups, each at varying stages of development and across various industries. What sets Rebels Valley apart is its global reach; it transcends geographical boundaries, forging connections with robust startup ecosystems across different regions.
Jan’s unwavering focus is on empowering startups to succeed in the competitive business landscape. By providing strategic guidance in sales, business development, and customer engagement, he equips entrepreneurs with the tools they need to thrive.
Two trailblazing Korean startups that participated in the event with their groundbreaking solutions:
1. Greenish Inc.: Dedicated to tackling infertility issues through innovative products and technologies, Greenish Inc. showcased its prowess with its pioneering research on sperm and pregnancy. CEO Founder Sung Insung (Jade) shared the company’s vision of advancing reproductive healthcare and solving pressing challenges in the field.
2. Tenatch (AI): With its Generative Mapping platform powered by Artificial Intelligence, Tenatch (AI) is revolutionizing digital mapping capabilities across industries. CEO Founder David Fu’s vision is to compete with industry giants like Google Maps, highlighting the platform’s potential to reshape the future of mapping technology.
In a riveting exchange with Sung Insung (Jade), CEO and Founder of Greenish Inc., Jan delved into the intricacies of obtaining medical certifications, domestically and internationally. As Greenish Inc. sets its sights on the US market, targeting certifications such as FDA and 510(k) for their groundbreaking infertility solutions, Jan emphasized the crucial role of venture capital in navigating this intricate process.
“Trying to get these international certificates for their patents and products takes time, which means money. Definitely, you made the first huge step. You have a technology, you have a concept, and you have it already tested. Now it’s time for patience until you get the certificates.”
Drawing from real-world examples, Jan recounted a transformative journey in which a startup, faced with challenges in obtaining medical certifications for human applications, pivoted its technology towards the veterinary market, achieving remarkable success.
Transitioning to the second startup on the Demo Day platform, Jan was captivated by the vision of David Fu, CEO and Founder of Tenatch (AI), whose Generative Mapping platform promises to revolutionize digital mapping. Encouraging David to accentuate the platform’s real-world impact and value to communities, Jan emphasized the significance of engaging storytelling to captivate audiences. “Rather than focusing solely on technology, emphasize the real-world impact and value your platform brings to communities. Engage the audience with more energy and storytelling to make the presentation more compelling,” Jan advised.
