South Korean digital therapeutics company HAII Corporation (HAII Corp.)(CEO Jinwoo Kim) announced on August 20th that its cognitive function evaluation and personalized improvement service, ‘Alzguard-T,’ was officially selected as an innovative product by the Public Procurement Service during the innovation product certification ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
Alzguard-T is a dementia prevention solution designed for those preparing for a healthy old age, enabling them to conduct ‘brain tests’ and ‘brain training’ anytime, anywhere. Through ‘brain tests,’ users can assess their cognitive abilities, and through ‘brain training,’ they can enhance any identified cognitive deficiencies. Alzguard-T comprises newly developed content by HAII aimed at improving cognitive functions, alongside ‘Alzguard,’ a digital medical device currently being prepared for confirmatory clinical trials related to dementia diagnosis.
To use Alzguard-T, users must first undergo a cognitive function evaluation service based on digital biomarkers. The evaluation covers six cognitive domains, including memory, calculation, and judgment. Users can instantly receive the results of their evaluation across these six domains. Based on the results, customized content focusing on the most deficient cognitive areas is provided, leading to cognitive improvement through tailored training.
Alzguard-T emphasizes cognitive function evaluation through digital biomarkers using voice and cognitive responses. HAII’s internal experts planned and designed the service, and it was refined through extensive planning and internal testing in collaboration with Professor Gun-ha Kim from the Department of Neurology at Ewha Mokdong Hospital and its Brain Medicine Research Institute. Additionally, over 1,000 hours of practical testing were conducted, ensuring that the service is reliable and trustworthy for users.
HAII CEO Jinwoo Kim commented, “In an era where the dementia population has reached 1 million, with a prevalence rate of 10% and management costs of 100 trillion won, we are pleased that our Alzguard-T service can offer a ray of hope amidst these negative news reports.”
According to the 4th Comprehensive Dementia Management Plan, the development and distribution of cognitive health programs will be expanded, and it is expected that demand for scientifically validated and proven services like Alzguard-T will increase. Public institutions interested in purchasing the Alzguard-T service can do so through the Public Procurement Service’s Innovation Market. HAII has become one of the rare digital healthcare companies to hold two innovative products selected by the Public Procurement Service, following last year’s selection of ‘Mind Garden.’
The Excellent Research and Development Innovation Product Designation System was introduced in 2020 across multiple ministries to help innovative small and medium-sized enterprises enter the public procurement market and secure sales channels. Products selected under this system are recognized as innovative products for three years, during which they are allowed non-competitive contracts in public procurement with government and local authorities. Procurement officers are also exempt from liability in the absence of intentional or gross negligence, and the designation period can be extended at the company’s request.
