Alchera, a company specializing in AI-based video recognition, will provide its facial recognition AI solution to the Incheon International Airport’s ‘Smart Pass System.’
According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), incorporating biometric departure services like facial recognition is expected to lead to a roughly 10% decrease in check-in time and a 40% reduction in boarding time. With the integration of Alchera’s solution, Incheon International Airport’s Smart Pass System enables passengers to complete check-in, baggage drop-off, departure security screening, and boarding processes without requiring passports or boarding passes. Instead, they can utilize pre-registered facial information for identification purposes.
Alchera’s CEO, Young Kyu Hwang, stated, “With the accelerated trend of contactless solutions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, airports worldwide are swiftly adopting facial recognition-based entry and exit systems. Alchera’s facial recognition AI solution not only provides enhanced security measures but also simplifies traveler identification and access management, playing a crucial role in creating a safe and efficient travel environment.”
In addition, Alchera has effectively cleared the ‘Presentation Attack Detection (PAD)’ assessment conducted by iBeta, a company based in the United States, utilizing a 2D camera methodology. Furthermore, they have achieved the highest rank in the 2022 project for constructing the Smart Government Complex Management System, overseen by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Their deployment of facial recognition systems in government offices in Seoul, Daejeon, and Gwacheon was successfully completed in April. Additionally, they offer their solutions to financial institutions such as Toss Bank, Shinhan Card, and Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance.
