The latest digital technologies in healthcare have narrowed the distance between patients and healthcare providers with digital disease detections and homecare solutions. However, many patients are still experiencing mental breakdowns and medication adherence issues during their “unattended care” stage after the diagnosis and prescription. Every year more than 120,000 patients in the U.S. lose their lives because of medication adherence issues during their unattended home care.
Korean startup Aurum Care Management Inc. is a health tech social venture that wants to provide a unique care management support system. Aurum Care is Korea’s only successfully – commercialized care management program provider, with expertise in various therapeutic areas and technologies, including AI machine learning. Aurum Care Management aims to provide the most appropriate patient support so the medical staff can achieve the intended treatment effect.
Aurum Care’s Care Management Solution, the Orla, helps the patients to follow the instructions of their medical staff. If the patients can accurately follow the medical staff’s guidance, it can shorten the duration of treatment, minimize the patient’s pain, and reduce healthcare costs. Furthermore, it can contribute to the soundness of health insurance finances and actual expenses insurance management while also supporting many pharmaceutical companies with its real-world evidence.
The company provides the solution in three ways through Orla ring, a voice-only phone call support system, Orla DPM (deviceless patient monitoring) text-only support, and Get Orla, an app-based service.
Aurum Care was established in January 2020 and has been acknowledged by the S. Korean government as a social venture. It was awarded by the S. Korean Minister of Health and Welfare in February 2022 for its contribution to the Korean pharmaceutical industry development. The company is a team of veteran nurses from senior general hospitals along with physicians, pharmacists, and problem-solving experts including a former executive from a global consulting firm and a CTO from a renowned unicorn startup. The company plans to expand to global markets with its unique expertise in specific rare diseases that have been filled up with its Korean operation.
