Becoming one of the top startups at K-Startup Grand Challenge
The startup was founded in 2019 in the USA and has now spread its reach to the Asian market with participation in the K-Startup Grand Challenge (KSGC) 2020 program in South Korea. KSGC is the leading startup inbound program organized and financed by the Korean government. It is an all-expenses-paid 3.5-month program where startups get to reach out to potential investors, network and expand business in South Korea and the Asian market.
Rocketship was selected to be part of the program in 2020, and despite COVID-19 restrictions, the company got to spend considerable time in Korea. Rocketship won the second top grand prize at the KSGC 2020 program out of 2,648 companies that had applied and got a cash prize worth $60,000.
Talking about his experience in Korea and at KSGC, Trevor Owens, CEO, and Founder of Rocketship, says, “KSGC plugs you into a trusted network to get your startup launched in the Korean market. They give you the network, the brand of KSGC, and the funding to ensure a smooth transition into a local market that is both dynamic and full of opportunities for hi-tech startups.”
Post participation in KSGC, Rocketship earned over $100k in revenues and established a base in Korea. It also got a new co-founder and CTO to join the company. “KSGC made it easy to launch our platform in Korea, which has a strong domestic market, with favorable regulations for international startups, and an abundance of technical talent,” said Trevor. Rocketship is currently offering a Demo service for those who want to launch their courses online.
he application and promotion of the K-Startup Grand Challenge 2021 have started with the last date for submitting applications being June 15th, 2021.
